Wig Care

How to take care of your wig, so its hair would still look healthy, shiny and they would not fall out or tangle? Certainly, do not neglect the care of your wig because it will all show on its appearance. Above all, it is essential to take care of it during washing.
We cannot forget that the wig is made by hair that has no longer any natural nutrients and most importantly, that they are hooked hair by hair to the underlying net (tulle). You can pluck the hair by inconsiderate treating of the wig and that is, of course, an irretrievable change. If this happens to you, we can surely provide a repair of the wig, but you would certainly prefer if we avoid this state. That is why we come up with some advices on how to treat your wig. If you follow these advices, the wig can truly serve you in a beautiful condition for a lifetime.
COMBING OF THE WIG
Never comb a wig while it is still wet! By this you cause the weakened fibres to break. After washing let the hair on the wig to dry freely. For normal combing of the wig use a hair brush which would not have any sharp bristles or snag balls. You can plug the hair by using this kind of hair brushes or combs. We recommend to comb the wig with special hair brushes from natural bristles, for example a hair brush with boar bristles. Don´t leave the wig to tangle, but also do not comb it too often, it is enough to comb it in the morning when you put the wig on your head and then when it gets tangled during the day, for example in windy weather.
To wash the wig, you need a Styrofoam head for the wig, which will serve as a stand. It resembles an actual human head, it also has a neck, which is finished with a pedestal. Place the wig on the Styrofoam head so the hair flows freely down. Because you will handle the stand, pin the wig on some places right into the Styrofoam head. You just need to use basic hairpins (hair feathers), they will easily enter the Styrofoam. It is viable to secure a parting with the hairpins. You will have an easier handling after the wash. Brush the hair softly from roots to ends with a special hair brush. Now we are ready and we can proceed to the washing. You will basically need similar products to a regular washing – shampoo and conditioner. We recommend you to use cosmetics that is sulphates-free, they tend to abnormally dry out hair fibres. The process of washing:
Prepare a water bath, in which you will wash the wig. You can use a wash-basin or similar container, or a sink if you have one that is spacious enough. It is important that the wig will fit inside. Water bath should not be too hot, we recommend lukewarm water.
Add the usual dose of a shampoo (ideally of the size of a walnut) and foam the water.
Now prepare the wig on a standing head. If you do not have a standing head, it is not a problem, you can replace it with your hand. That means you will hold the wig firmly from the inside.
Now soak the wig (pinned on your standing head or on your hand) in water and rinse it just lightly in the water. Definitely do not scrub the hair, do not massage them!
After you take out the wig, pour out the water and prepare a new one, once again lukewarm.
Now add to the water a conditioner and repeat the washing process.
In the end shower the wig so it gets rid of all hair products.
After you wash the wig, DO NOT WRING IT, DO NOT RUB IT WITH A TOWEL. Comb it gently and let it dry freely on the head stand.
If you are in a hurry and you need to blow dry the wig, first use thermal protective products. Blow dry at a low temperature.
STYLING OF THE WIG
You can, of course, make with your wig as many adjustments as you like, you just always have to be careful with it. Always keep in mind that the hair on the wig has no nourishment, if you often burden it with high temperatures (when ironing, blow drying, curling), you will dry the out, weaken them and they will lose their shine. Thus, we recommend only minimal heat treatments, always with a use of thermal protective products to protect them. Please be aware that artificial wig should not be ironed, nor curled and as they may burn.
COLORING OF THE WIG
We do not recommend wig coloring. Any interference to the hair that is not nourished, even the ones of highest quality, is irreversible process. In addition to that the shade may come up differently than you expect, you can also completely destroy the hair – burn them, dry them down or plug them. We have a large selection of shades in our offer, we believe you will choose. If not, then we offer a possibility of a custom production.
WHERE TO PUT MY WIG, IF I DO NOT WEAR IT
You will take off your wig for the night and it is advisable to just put it freely on a bedside table. The wig will always tangle. We recommend that you buy a head stand with the wig. You can buy a plastic stand or a Styrofoam wig head. You always put the wig on it, when you not wear it. The stand or Styrofoam head ensures that the hair on the wig does not tangle and it maintains the shape of the hairstyle you are used to. In addition, you can use the Styrofoam head when washing the wig and then drying the wig.
WHAT TO NEVER DO:
NEVER sleep in the wig. During the night rolling, the hair will tangle and they can be pull out while combing.
NEVER comb the wig by using force. Human hair will grow but wig hair will not
NEVER wash the wig the normal way. The wig needs special cosmetics and gentle approach, otherwise the hair can be fall out.
NEVER wring or rub the wig with towel after washing. Again, you can cause the hair to fall out.
NEVER wear the wig to solarium or sauna. High temperatures dry out the hair abnormally and the hair will not be as shiny and beautiful after time.
NEVER swim with the wig in salt or chlorinated water. This environment dries out the hair on the wig.
